Josh Dennett Re-Signs For 2027

Eltham Redbacks FC is pleased to confirm that midfielder Josh Dennett has re-signed for the 2027 season, his fourth with the club.

Dennett does a bit of everything in the middle of the park. He tackles hard, he scores from distance, and his long throw is the longest in the league, turning any throw-in in the attacking half into a set piece.

Dennett has played 74 games since arriving in 2024, and he has started all 74. The Redbacks have won 42 of them.

He started 22 games and chipped in three goals in the 2024 State League 1 title season. In 2025 he scored seven as the side won promotion out of VPL2, then followed it with six more in his first season in VPL1. That’s 16 goals from midfield across three seasons.

He made an immediate impression. On debut, against Rowville Eagles in the 2024 Dockerty Cup, he scored twice, including the 117th-minute winner in a 4-2 extra-time win.

In 2025 he scored a hat-trick against Whittlesea United. His 2026 goals included a long-range strike against FC Bulleen Lions and the opener in the 3-3 draw with Melbourne Victory at The Web.

Dennett’s 2025 season earned him the VPL2 Men’s Players’ Player of the Year at the Victorian Football Gala, voted by players across the division.

This year he helped the Redbacks reach the promotion play-offs in our first season in VPL1.

The club looks forward to seeing Josh driving the team in the engine room again in 2027.
