The Redbacks are delighted to confirm Nicky Edwards will return for the 2026 season.
After playing an integral role in the 2024 State League 1 championship, he finished as the club’s top goalscorer in 2025, as the Redbacks were promoted from VPL2 at the first time of asking. With 13 goals from 23 appearances, only two players in the division managed to outscore him.
During the 2024 title-winning campaign, Edwards scored 7 goals, including his brace in the famous 4–3 comeback win over Collingwood City, a match that has become part of Redbacks folklore and underlined his knack for delivering when the pressure is highest.
That big-moment quality carried into VPL2, culminating in a double against Brunswick Juventus that sealed promotion in style.
Now preparing for another season at The Web, Edwards’ re-signing adds continuity, experience, and proven big-game mettle as the Redbacks continue to build for VPL1.
