The Eltham Redbacks are proud to announce the elevation of Ben Wallace, Julian Moutsos and Daniel Montagnese to our Senior Men’s squad for the 2026 VPL1 season.
All three were key members of our U23 squad that finished Runner-Up in VPL2 last season, scoring an incredible 92 goals in 26 games, while conceding just 29.
Moutsos and Wallace netted 10 and 7 goals respectively in their 20 appearances, while Montagnese made 24 appearances, scoring twice.
Wallace also made his debut for the senior side, coming off the bench in stoppage time against Whittlesea United, before being entrusted from the hour mark in a crucial home game against Pascoe Vale. Wallace acquitted himself well in his first significant senior minutes, as the Redbacks netted a 97th-minute winner which proved crucial in sealing promotion.
Their elevation to Alan Mulcahy’s VPL1 squad is a demonstration of Eltham’s commitment to player development, and providing a genuine pathway from junior football to our senior teams. We look forward to seeing our home-grown talents grow and excel in a side with a strong culture and playing identity.
