Eltham Redbacks FC is pleased to confirm that striker John Prescott has re-signed for the 2026 VPL2 season.

Prescott has been one of the defining attacking figures of the Redbacks’ rise over the past three years, contributing goals, presence, and important moments during back-to-back promotions from State League 1 into VPL1. A former State League 1 South-East Golden Boot winner, he has built a reputation for delivering when the stakes are highest.

His early years at the club set the tone. Prescott produced consistent goalscoring form across the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, including a string of decisive strikes during the 2024 promotion run. He scored braces in pressure matches, turned tight contests, and famously delivered the goal that clinched promotion into VPL2-an effort that remains one of the most celebrated moments in the club’s modern senior men’s history.

That form earned him the State League 1 South-East Golden Boot, and his re-signing ahead of the Redbacks’ first VPL2 season in 2025 was seen as a major statement for the club’s ambition.

Across the 2025 campaign, Prescott’s influence continued as part of the senior attacking group. His work rate, movement, and ability to occupy defenders provided balance to the front third during the club’s first year in the division.

Perhaps more importantly, Prescott’s standing in the squad has grown beyond goals alone. His teammates regularly refer to him as one of the emotional drivers of the group – a personality who lifts the room, connects people, and brings energy to big moments. His presence has contributed to a dressing-room culture that has become a competitive asset in its own right.

Re-signing one of the catalysts of the promotion era is a significant step as Eltham builds into 2026. Prescott remains a key attacking presence for the group and a player whose competitive character continues to set the tone for the squad.

The club looks forward to seeing him lead the line once again in the year ahead.
