The club is delighted to announce that defender Kristina Dimitrovski has been formally promoted to our VPLW side in her 11th season at the Redbacks.
Kristina is a true home-grown success story, joining the Redbacks as a nine-year-old and progressing all the way through our junior ranks.
A centre back with a no-nonsense approach, Dimitrovski says the support she’s received at Eltham has laid the foundation for her progression to the seniors.
“The reason I’ve stayed at Eltham for so long is definitely the culture,” she says.
“It’s been really nice growing up knowing that there was a pathway into the seniors, and it’s a very supportive community to be around.
“I’ve had some pretty good coaches growing up through the juniors, which has helped support me and become the player I am today to be in the seniors.”
After making her senior debut last season, Kristina is now enjoying training full time with Jonathan Barrientos’ squad.
“The new group, it’s been really good training with them. Very high intensity, the quality has been very good.
“On the pre-season camp, everyone bonded really well. The boot camp was tough, but it helped support the girls to communicate properly.
“JB is actually a really good coach. He’s got his humour, which is nice to break up the high intensity.”
Kristina’s elevation is a further demonstration of the club’s commitment to junior development, and we can’t wait to see the strides she’ll make this season.
